Frequently Asked Questions
Is this battery compatible with my RC boat?
Yes, if your boat uses a 7.4V (2S) battery with a Mini-Tamiya plug and the battery bay fits 70 × 38 × 18mm. Confirm these three things before ordering: voltage (7.4V/2S), bay dimensions, and plug type (Mini-Tamiya, two-pin with center pin). If all three match, it will fit.
What is the difference between Mini-Tamiya and standard Tamiya?
Mini-Tamiya is physically smaller than a standard Tamiya plug. The pin spacing and housing width are both reduced. They are NOT interchangeable — a standard Tamiya plug will not seat properly in a Mini-Tamiya bay, and vice versa. Check your boat’s original plug or manual to confirm which one you need.
Can I charge this with a LiPo balance charger?
No. This is a Li-ion battery, not LiPo. It charges exclusively via the included USB-A cable into any 5V USB port. Do NOT connect it to a LiPo balance charger — it will not charge correctly and may damage the pack or trigger a fault.
How long does it take to fully charge?
Approximately 2–3 hours using a 5V/1A USB source (typical phone adapter). Slightly faster with a 5V/2A adapter. Compatible sources include phone wall chargers, laptops, power banks, and car USB ports. No separate battery charger required.
Is the 15C (45A) rating enough for my RC boat?
For most toy-grade and entry-level 2S RC boats (sustained draw of 10–30A at full throttle), yes — 45A peak gives comfortable headroom with flat voltage throughout the run. For larger hobby-grade boats drawing 50A+ sustained, a higher-C LiPo pack would be more appropriate.
How many charge cycles can I expect before the battery fades?
Under normal RC boat use (moderate throttle, full discharge between sessions), expect 200–300 cycles before noticeable capacity drop. To maximize lifespan, avoid storing the battery at full or empty charge — aim for 40–60% when parked for extended periods.
What comes in the box?
2× PCEONAMP 7.4V 3000mAh 2S Li-ion batteries (Mini-Tamiya plug), 2× USB-A charging cables, 1× user manual.
Is this suitable for children’s RC boats?
Yes. This battery is designed for casual and children’s RC boat use (ages 6–14). The Li-ion chemistry is inherently more stable than LiPo under normal use conditions. Children should not open, cut, or modify the pack. If swelling, excessive heat, or physical damage is observed during charging, discontinue use immediately.
